Sheraton Saigon Hotel and Towers
Sheraton Saigon Hotel and Towers is centrally located and offers guests the ability to stay in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City with easy access to the Opera House, Notre Dame Cathedral, Ben Thanh Market, and Reunification Palace as well as all the best District 1 shopping opportunities you might want.
The 485 guest rooms and suites (all with either Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon River views) have everything you would expect from a luxury hotel but a Grand Tower Studio in the Grand Tower section of the hotel gave us a huge amount of space that, in a city as packed as Saigon, was certainly a welcome surprise.
The two walls of floor to ceiling windows, gave us great views of District 1 with the towering sky scrapers, neon light shows, people on the streets below and life on the river all giving us a new perspective on the city.
The fitness facilities at the Sheraton Saigon Hotel and Towers offer a good sized outdoor pool that is perfect for swimming laps (or for relaxing next to) and a well equipped, state of the art gym.
We checked in for 3 nights to see just how they would cater for vegan guests who like the finer things in life…
The Vegan Food
Breakfast was served in the Saigon Café; there was a huge choice for non-vegan guests ranging from continental breakfast options to live cooking stations offering Vietnamese cuisine. There were signs inviting those who have any dietary requirements to speak to a member of the team so we took this opportunity and asked to be shown what was vegan from the buffet.
We were impressed with the food knowledge of the chef who came out to assist us, as he showed us everything that we could eat from the buffet and then offered to make us a few different options to try. For breakfast we ate freshly made wok fried noodles with vegetables, vegetable fried rice and spicy curries, as well as being able to eat the usual western cooked breakfast options.
Both the Saigon Café and the Grand Tower lounge stocked dairy free soya milk, giving us the opportunity to have nicely made vegan cappuccinos whenever we wanted. There were live cooking stations at the lounge each evening so the food offering could be veganised with a little communication and effort if requested.
Whilst at the hotel we dined in the hotel’s Chinese Restaurant, Li Bai, who have a permanent vegetarian menu which has a huge (and very interesting) vegan selection, for a detialed review of our meal at Li Bai read here, but be warned, it might make you very hungry!
The Vegan Essentials
There was a pillow menu with a choice of two different vegan pillows and our duvet was already non-feather making it very easy to swap to a feather free vegan bedding option, the in-room amenities are Sheraton’s signature brand and not vegan so we didn’t try them out.
The Aqua Day Spa is a tranquil part of the hotel, located near the pool and fitness area with plenty of relaxing treatment to choose from. Hot stone massage anyone?
The Vegan Food Quest Verdict
Check-in the the Sheraton Saigon Hotel and Towers for a city centre hotel stay right in the heart of bustling District 1. Make sure to tell the helpful staff that you are vegan so they can make you something delicious for breakfast.
Don’t forget to treat yourself to a meal at the Sheraton’s Chinese restaurant, Li Bai, to sample some of tasty vegan options on offer.
We were guests of Sheraton Saigon Hotel and Towers but please rest assured that their generosity in hosting us didn’t influence our views
