Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa

Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa is one of the newest resorts in Hua Hin having opened in 2016. Offering guests a selection of 322 modern and stylish rooms and suites many with direct pool access, all with balconies and some boasting ocean views. It was at very high occupancy when we visited due to Chinese New Year celebrations but despite the huge number of guests the staff team still managed to deliver a professional service. The grounds were immaculate and we loved that there was a seperate ‘adults only’ pool as this presented peace, quiet and tranquility for those who wished to relax with their favourite book.

The Vegan Food

The breakfast buffet at ‘Amber’ had the usual fresh juices, fruits and an extensive salad bar with quinoa and flax for that extra protein hit. Staff helped to identify which of the breads were vegan but unfortunately there was no vegan butter or margarine. There was a delicious Indian curry which we enjoyed with paratha and popadom and there was a Thai vegetarian curry which was vegan too. Congee with all the condiments and hot soy milk with Chinese donuts provided another option from the buffet. In addition to what was available from the buffet, upon request the staff arranged for a vegan noodle soup to be prepared complete with vegan stock and lots of fresh vegetables.

During our stay we also enjoyed lunch at Amber where the exisiting menu has a number of dishes that are suitable for vegans and others that can easily be adapted. We spoke with the chef who happily prepared a vegan lunch for us based on dishes from the existing menu. We started with a fresh and crunchy garden salad which was dressed perfectly, this was accompanied by a basket of bread with olive oil. Our trio of main courses were a wholewheat penne arrabbiata, vegetable kadai from the Indian menu and our favourite which was ‘Tao Hu Phad Med Mamuang’ otherwise known as fried tofu with cashew nut.

As a vegan, many of us love fruit and when you’re in Asia the tropical fruits are delicious. However, when it comes to dessert and you are served a fruit salad we would be lying if we said we weren’t disappointed. Therefore, when our dessert is a trio of vegan delights including cherry and almond chocolate cake, mango and coconut cube and a pineapple and coconut sorbet it’s safe to say we are nothing short of ecstatic! This was the perfect way to end our vegan lunch at Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa, it really was an enjoyable lunch indeed.

The Vegan Essentials

Marriott Hua Hin Resort has one of our favourite hotel bathroom amenity brands called Thann which is a Thai spa company. All of their products are not tested on animals and are free of animal derived ingredients. We love that Marriott have adopted a no plastic straw policy at all of their 6500+ properties worldwide meaning we were able to enjoy a freshly squeezed mango juice with a paper straw!

The Vegan Food Quest Verdict

Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa offered a very good redemption option for our reward points on a weekend when many hotels were fully booked or priced high. The beachside location and resort feel is perfect if that’s what you’re craving, the service was attentive and courteous whilst the vegan food that we experienced was very good indeed.
